Judith, the Men's Barber of Choice

Judith Hutter is a Southern California treasure.  She was a model, from blonde to deep red head, a beautiful blonde haired Slavic muse, her DNA wove through her business accolades and she was in the right place and the right time when Southern California was filled with beautiful people.

She studied under Vidal Sasson working the seductive curls and twirls of the human perception of identity, hair being a defining movement.  Remember the movie 'Hair'? 1979 HAIR.

Judy set the trend, she stepped into an arena that was the opposite of hair salons for women. She decided to take the women to the barber pole, scissors in hand and work the curls and hairlines of our menfolk. These ladies were trained by Judy, they hustled and business was good.

Judy was onto something. Way ahead of our times, she crossed the stars.

In the 1970's & 1980's it was all about hair.  Hairspray was reserved for the 1960's.  Bigger hair, lots of hair,

There was always a time for a short buzz cut   Let The Sunshine In

We sure have been through a lot of shit haven't we since then?  We are still here. Macho lives.
Macho lives in the spirit of enthusiasm, our vibrant opportunities and the connections we made.
We thrived and kicked ass and have our memories to fuel our future.

Judy is my cousin. I've known her for all 61 years of my life. I made it this far. She made it further. She matters most.  I hope you enjoy this blog dedicated to our Judy of her life and times and those she held hands with along the way.

We are still kicking ass.
Stay tuned....

Judy Hutter, Macho Men's Salon and a great story about Laguna Beach Barbers

Back in 2012, a great story came out in the Laguna Beach Independent, titled 'A LITTLE OFF THE TOP'.

A great article written by Andy Hedden regarding the experience of a great Barber through the eyes of a local client.

Judy Hutter of Macho, men's hair salon in Laguna Beach is featured in one of the authors historical images. Historical because as time goes so do the memories, shops turn over, barbers move on and new industry arrives.

Laguna Beach was Laguna back in the 1970's, it was where the beautiful people went.

Check out the link under the photo and enjoy Andy's story. Check it out!

The Original Macho Man

Judith Hutter, Proprietor and Barber was a trailbrazer before trailblazers were blazing. Her younger brother Jack is her longest Macho client. Back in the early 1970's Judy established the hottest Barbershop on the North American Continent 'Macho's, a men's hair salon in Laguna Beach California on Pacific Coast Highway 1.

She and her brother grew up in Costa Mesa, California and were Orange County brats. They were outgoing, pursued life with vigor and panache and all along the way Judy clenched her Filipino shears.

Jack still gets his hair settled down by his big sister Judy. In 2022, Judy has been working on men's hair for over 5 decades.

Jack still looks the same. No, he did not dye his hair, and he never lost any to boot!
